A study on intimacy
I’m fascinated by how people present themselves to the world (virtually or analogue), the confidence they project and how there’s so much you can’t see. I’m in constant search of where and how to fit in to this world and in my paintings I can give my muses just that. I shape their world around them to be just perfect, just for them.
This body of work was born from loneliness and seeking intimacy during 2021, where I actually visually comforted myself in my paintings. When loneliness made way for comfort and warmth, I had a longing to paint other people I found inspiring. I visited their homes and work to make their surroundings as personal as possible. Making them feel at home in my own shaped world.
This body of work was made entirely during covid, when I moved to a bigger studio and was able to first work on canvas and linen. These are also some of the first works I made with oil and when I fell in love with the medium.
